About Us

The 47th Avenue Foundation is committed to supporting children and families in the greater Seattle area.  We believe that positively impacting one person’s life creates a ripple effect that spreads outward to improve the entire community.

We partner with organizations that take a proactive approach to solving today’s challenges while also maintaining a long-term focus on creating a better tomorrow. We want to set children up for a path of success so they can live their fullest lives.

With a lean and flexible path to support, and a focused and intentional approach to relationships, 47th Avenue Foundation values progress over perfection. We approach all relationships with a sense of curiosity, an inclination for fun and a desire to impact. Seattle is our home, and we are on a mission to make impactful change.

Our Mission

47th Avenue Foundation supports children and families in the greater Seattle community by investing in programs and organizations that foster a proactive approach to lifelong wellbeing.

Our History

Our founder, Phyllis Lindsey, was born in Billings, Montana. She attended Montana State University where she met and later married, Don Lindsey. Together, they moved to Seattle, Washington where they started an aerospace manufacturing company. After a successful career, raising children and enjoying retirement, Phyllis founded the 47th Avenue Foundation in 2019 to create positive change in the local community. Past grant recipients have ranged from supporting healthcare organizations to ensuring a local museum is around for future generations to enjoy. In 2022, Phyllis’ granddaughter, Lindsey Wellmon, took over as President. She is excited to continue investing in organizations that support children and families in the greater Seattle area.
